About AARC
Purpose Statement:
In order to improve accountability of the expenditure of public funds, the Comptroller establishes the Accounting and Audit Review Committee (AARC) to ensure compliance with the Comptroller's established accounting system and internal controls. The AARC will promote efficiency in Executive Branch operations by assisting the management of State departments and agencies to comply with applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, and practices.
Responsibilities:
- To propose statewide accounting and auditing policy for circulation through Comptroller's Circulars and Memoranda as necessary.
- To review the status of departments and agencies' action plans on resolving Audit findings through implementation of a Quarterly Progress Report of their respective Action Plans.
- To provide Management Reports for Department Directors as a business decision-making tool that will assist departments and agencies to achieve their established benchmarks.
- To serve as a resource for accounting questions and clarify procedures, policies, rules, regulations, and practices for all Executive Branch employees.
Meetings:
Meetings will be held monthly prior to the Governor's Cabinet meeting or as needed.
